Customer Spotlight: From Installation to Harvest – Grand Gro 3.6m Greenhouse in Durbanville

One of the most rewarding parts of what we do at Easy Greenhouses is seeing our customers bring their greenhouses to life.

Every greenhouse tells a different story, and we're excited to launch our new Customer Spotlight series, where we'll be sharing real greenhouse installations from across South Africa, along with updates as our customers begin their greenhouse gardening journey.

Our first spotlight takes us to Durbanville, Cape Town, where our customer chose the Grand Gro 3.6m Greenhouse to create the perfect vegetable garden for their home.

Choosing the Right Greenhouse

After discussing their growing goals and available space, our customer selected the Grand Gro 3.6m Greenhouse—one of our most popular models for home gardeners looking for extra growing space without compromising on quality or style.

With its spacious interior, durable aluminium frame and 6mm UV-protected twin-wall polycarbonate panels, the Grand Gro provides the ideal environment for growing vegetables, herbs, seedlings and flowers throughout the year.

Professional Installation by Our Cape Town Team

While many of our customers enjoy assembling their greenhouse themselves, we also offer a professional assembly service in selected areas.

For this installation, our Cape Town team completed the full assembly on site, ensuring every component was correctly installed and aligned.

To provide maximum stability and long-term performance, the greenhouse was securely fixed to a perimeter foundation, creating a solid base ready for many years of gardening.

Upgrading with Smart Accessories

To make greenhouse gardening even easier and create the ideal growing environment, our customer chose to upgrade their Grand Gro greenhouse with two of our most popular accessories.

Automatic Roof Vent Openers

Automatic roof vent openers help regulate the temperature inside the greenhouse without the need for electricity.

As the greenhouse warms during the day, the roof vents automatically open to improve airflow and help prevent overheating. As temperatures cool, the vents gradually close again, maintaining a more consistent environment for healthy plant growth.

This simple upgrade reduces the need for constant monitoring, making greenhouse gardening easier and more convenient throughout the year.

Side Louvre Vents

To further improve ventilation, our customer also added Side Louvre Vents.

Side louvre vents work alongside the roof vents to create natural cross-ventilation. As warm air rises and escapes through the roof vents, cooler fresh air is drawn in through the side vents. This continuous airflow helps regulate temperature, reduce excess humidity, and create healthier growing conditions for plants.

Good ventilation is one of the most important factors in a productive greenhouse, helping to minimise condensation and reduce the risk of fungal diseases while ensuring plants receive a constant supply of fresh air.

Together, the automatic roof vent openers and side louvre vents create an efficient, low-maintenance ventilation system that helps maintain the ideal growing environment throughout the seasons.

One of our favourite moments is receiving updates from customers once they've started planting.

Not long after the installation was completed, our customer kindly shared photos and videos showing all the vegetables that he had plated thriving in their new environment!

It's incredibly rewarding to see an empty greenhouse transform into a productive growing space.

These updates are a reminder that a greenhouse isn't simply another structure in the garden, it's a place where fresh vegetables are grown, seedlings are nurtured and new gardening projects begin.

Growing Food for the Family

Like many South Africans, our customer wanted more than just a beautiful greenhouse, they wanted the opportunity to grow fresh, healthy food.

Their goal was to become more self-sufficient by producing their own vegetables, herbs and seasonal crops at home. Knowing exactly where their food comes from, how it has been grown and what has (or hasn't) been used on it was an important part of their decision.

By growing their own produce, they can enjoy fresh, homegrown vegetables harvested straight from the greenhouse, while reducing their reliance on store-bought produce. It's also a practical way to help manage rising grocery costs, minimise food waste by harvesting only what they need, and enjoy the peace of mind that comes from growing food naturally.

The Grand Gro 3.6m Greenhouse provides the ideal environment for this lifestyle, making it possible to grow a wide variety of crops throughout the year while protecting plants from harsh weather, pests and seasonal changes.

Why We Love Receiving Customer Updates

Every greenhouse begins as a flat-pack kit.

What happens next is what inspires us.

Whether it's the first seedlings, the first tomato harvest, a greenhouse filled with orchids or a thriving vegetable garden, every update reminds us why we love what we do.

That's why we've launched our Customer Spotlight series - to celebrate the amazing spaces our customers create and to inspire others who are considering starting their own greenhouse journey.

If you're one of our customers, we'd love to hear from you!

Share your greenhouse photos and growing progress with us, you might just be featured in a future Customer Spotlight!
